According to an October 1 report from Trusted Connectivity Alliance, its member data shows that consumer eSIM profile downloads in the first six months of 2026 nearly matched the total for 2025.
China was a major driver of that growth, with adoption also increasing in other regions. Physical SIMs aren't disappearing yet, though: TCA members reported a 6% year-on-year increase in traditional SIM shipments during the same period.
Would you switch to an eSIM-only phone, or do you still prefer having a physical SIM slot? What would be your biggest concern?
